Sunday Jam: Sye Elaine Spence — “Bloom”
Sye Elaine Spence is a an independent artist from Atlanta by way of New York, who on April 10, released her newest EP, Bloom.
“Bloom” is transportive, relaxing track that features only a plucked banjo and Spence’s soulful vibrato-laced vocals. The tune finds itself at the intersection of soul and folk, which is a refreshing, yet sadly untrodden territory. However, as Valarie June recently proved, the two genres compliment each other well, and “Bloom” is no exception.
Spence had this to say about “Bloom’s” accompanying video:
“There is no an actual director since we did not shoot the video ourselves. It is a vintage home movie recorded in the 1960s. The reason I choose this particular visual is because it was reminiscent of the journeying happening in my life at this particular time.”
And make sure to check out the rest of Bloom – it’s a great summer EP.
