Track Of The Week: “In The Dark” — Reignwolf

In The DarkSeattle based blues-rocker Reignwolf released a new single titled “In The Dark” and announced that he’ll join Black Sabbath for their Canadian tour in April.

“In The Dark” was recorded at Ani Defranco’s home studio in New Orleans with the help of Defranco’s husband Mike “Nappy” Napolitano. The tune is a blues-based stomper that will certainly draw comparisons to groups like the White Stripes, Gary Clark Jr., and The Black Keys. But look a little a deeper and Reinwolf’s fuzz guitar tones take you back to 60′s groups like Free, Cream and most notably, The Band Of Gypises. Keep on going and you’ll discover the tune’s true roots–the blues music of the Mississippi delta as performed by bluesman like Junior Kimbrough, Son House, and Mississippi Fred Mcdowell.

But it’s the weight of  “In The Dark” that adds something to the existing blues/rock library. The guitar tones are huge, and searing while the drums and bass add a serious low end punch. Cool stuff.
